About TBB Scholarships, Inc.

TBB Scholarships, Inc. is dedicated to providing college or vocational school scholarships to young women who are seniors in high school and reside and/or go to school in Brookline, Newton, or Wellesley, Massachusetts. We award scholarships to four or five new applicants per year, and support normally continues through four years of college. Each year scholarships totaling nearly $100,000 are divided among some 20 scholars in various stages of their education at a wide range of schools. Recently scholars have attended Boston University, Bucknell, Cornell, Emmanuel, Emory, George Washington University. Harvard, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, McGill, Smith, Trinity, UMass Amherst, Wesleyan, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Scholarships are based on both merit and financial need.

TBB Scholarships, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization. All members are volunteers and member contributions are the source of our scholarship funds.

History

TBB Scholarships, Inc. was founded in 1898 as a social club, Tau Beta Beta. In 1908, the members decided to have a charitable purpose and awarded a scholarship to a Brookline High School student. In 1922 the society was incorporated as Tau Beta Beta, Inc. By 1938, scholarships were also given to residents of Newton and Wellesley. To better reflect our mission, in 2020 we changed our name to TBB Scholarships, Inc. Today, the members of TBB Scholarships, Inc. continue to support the scholarship program both with financial support and with interest in the recipients’ achievements during their four years of scholarship aid.
